Track, cheering, field hockey, basketball, golf, tennis, swim classes

The Brewer Parks and Recreation Department is now accepting registrations for summer sport activities.

The Brewer Youth Track Club meets 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the BCS track on Pendleton Street. Participants can choose to participate in Maine USA Track and Field on Thursday afternoons.

Champion Cheering will be held from 1:15 to 2 p.m. Tuesdays beginning June 28 through Aug. 9 for children 6 to 10 years of age.

Brewer High School field hockey coach Duffy Doiron will host a program for children grades 4-9 who are interested in field hockey. The program will meet from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, June 27 through Thursday, June 30, at the Brewer High School field hockey field.

Basketball skill through drills, contests and scrimmage games will be held for children ages 6 to 10,  1:15 to 2 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays beginning June 27 through Aug. 17, at the Brewer Auditorium.

The Junior Golf Clinic with PGA professional instructor Mark Hall will be available to students ages 8-10  from 9 to 10:15 a.m., and students 11-14 from 10:30 to11:45 a.m. June 23 to July 14 at the Pine Hill Golf Course/Driving Range.

The Tennis Clinic with USTA instructor Kelly Anchors will be held Tuesdays from June 21 to July 21. A tennis club is also offered through the Brewer Parks and Recreation Department which lets children ages 5-14 learn about tennis. Call for a time schedule.

Dive in now for Brewer resident registration for swim classes

Brewer Parks and Recreation Department has announced that residents may now register for summer swim classes at the Brewer Municipal Pool. Non-residents may register beginning June 1.

A variety of classes are offered for all swimming abilities for children as young as age 3. Session one classes will meet on Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday for a four-week session scheduled to run from June 27 to July 21.

The fee is $12 for Brewer residents and $24 for non-residents. For more information call the Brewer Parks and Recreation Department at 989-5199.
