Brewer library to
start book discussion club
Friday, March 28, 2008
The Brewer Public
Library was awarded a $1,000 grant from the Rose and Samuel Rudman Fund
of the Maine Community Foundation, and is using the funds to sponsor a
new book discussion group.
The new book club
is expected to have authors and others as guest speakers, and the
library staff is collecting data about when is the best day and time for
meetings.
"This grant will
allow us to expand our services to the library community in Brewer,"
Donna Rasche, Brewer library director, said in a press release. "We have
had many library users ask for just such a group. We currently have
programs for children and an outreach program for the homebound.
"A group for
people to discuss books that have made an impact in their lives is a
natural progression in library service," she said.
The library holds
several programs weekly, monthly and seasonally, including a summer
reading program. Rasche invites all interested to visit or call the
library at 989-7943 to register or comment on the book club.
