General Assistance

The City of Brewer  administers a program of general assistance (GA) available to all persons who are eligible to receive assistance in accordance with the standards of eligibility as provided within the City Ordinance, Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and Maine State Statutes 22 M.R.S.A. § 4301 et seq. This program is designed to provide aid to persons who are unable to provide the basic necessities essential to maintain themselves or their families.

General Assistance applications are taken by appointment. Applicants must provide proof of income, expenses and receipts from the previous 30 days for everyone in the household.

This office also maintains the Cemetery Records for the City of Brewer.

This office also acts as Health Officer for the City of Brewer.
