In
the past, these wastes have been co-mingled with other solid wastes.
The
City of Brewer is proud to announce that they are now able to provide for the
management of Universal Wastes from households. (Brewer businesses are not
eligible)
The City of
Brewer is proud of
the fact that they have provided
for the management of Universal Wastes from households (Brewer
businesses are not eligible) since
2002.
The
City constructed a building in
early 2002 and
on May 4, 2002, the City started
collecting, storing and recycling the Universal Waste items listed
above. In
2002 Brewer residents recycled 15,000 pounds of Universal Waste,
however in 2004 residents recycled a amazing 45,000 pounds and we
expect even higher weights in 2005.
Brewer residents have done a
outstanding job recycling Universal Waste so keep up the great work.
Remember the recycling of Universal Waste is free to Brewer
residents. The program is funded by the City Solid Waste budget so
there is no out of pocket costs when you deliver the material to the
Universal Waste building.
The
building is located at the City’s
Water Pollution Control Facility at the end of Oak
Street in South Brewer.
If
you have any questions regarding the program call Ken Locke or
Lou Colburn at
989-5417.
