| Brewer Water Pollution Control Facility Wins Award
On
September 28, the Joint Environmental Training Coordinating Committee (JETCC)
presented its Lee Agger Award to the Brewer Water Pollution Control Facility,
during the Maine Wastewater Control Assoiciation’s Fall Convention at Sebasco
Harbor Resort.
Plant
Director Ken Locke, Superintendent Scott Clukey; along with Operators Steve
Butler and David Rogers accepted the award on behalf of Brewer’s wastewater
treatment facility. All of them were surprised and pleased when the name of
their facility was announced.
Selection
criteria for the Lee Agger Award is based on meritorious support and service to
environmental training in the State of Maine by an individual, facility or
organization.
The
JETCC Board of Directors selected the Brewer Water Pollution Control Facility
for this award as an exemplary role model in several areas. For many years now,
the staff of Brewer’s wastewater treatment plant have been an example for
others to follow in terms of teamwork, support, public relations, volunteerism
and service to their own municipality as well as the communities of water
pollution control and public education. Their accomplishments have been many.
Other exemplary awards and accomplishments by the Brewer Water Pollution Control
Facility staff are as follows:
1995—Richard
B. Goodnow Award—Recognition of excellence in operation and management of a
Municipal Wastewater Treatment Facility.
1997—George
W. Burke Jr. Facility Safety Award—Recognition of the excellence and its
active and effective Safety Program and safety record.
2001—2nd
Place Winter the US EPA 2001 National Combined Sewer Control Program Excellence
Award Program.
