Waste and Trash Collection

Residential household trash is picked up once each week.

The Pay As You Throw (PAYT) Trash Program will start January 1, 2011 along with the bi-weekly collection of Zero Sort Recycling.

Trash collection may be delayed one day when trash collection day is a holiday.

Six holidays are observed. New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Monday holidays will result in Monday's weekly trash being picked up on Tuesday, Tuesday's weekly trash on Wednesday, Wednesday's weekly trash on Thursday, and Thursday's weekly trash on Friday.

Please call Public Works at 989-7800 for trash collection changes.

PROBLEMS WITH TRASH PICKUP?? If your trash was not picked up and you’d like to know why, please call the City’s trash collection contractor (Pine Tree Waste Services) directly at 1-800-639-6205. Public Works does not collect residential trash and this type of waste cannot be disposed of in the City’s CDD Landfill. Remember, Pine Tree will not pick up trash containing medical wastes, yard wastes or demolition debris such as lumber, sheetrock and furniture or bedding. For more information on acceptable vs. unacceptable wastes call the Brewer Landfill and Recycling Area at 989-8433.

If you have any questions regarding to the collection program and schedule, please call the Public Works Department at 989-7800.
