Waste and Trash Collection

Residential household trash is picked up once each week. Trash collection may be delayed one day when trash collection day is a holiday.

Curbside Trash Requirements

Six holidays are observed. New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Monday holidays will result in Monday's weekly trash being picked up on Tuesday, Tuesday's weekly trash on Wednesday, Wednesday's weekly trash on Thursday, and Thursday's weekly trash on Friday.

Please call Public Works at 989-7800 for trash collection changes.

PROBLEMS WITH TRASH PICKUP?? If your trash was not picked up and you’d like to know why, please call the City’s trash collection contractor (Pine Tree Waste Services) directly at 1-800-639-6205. Public Works does not collect residential trash and this type of waste cannot be disposed of in the City’s CDD Landfill. Remember, Pine Tree will not pick up trash containing medical wastes, yard wastes or demolition debris such as lumber, sheetrock and furniture or bedding. For more information on acceptable vs. unacceptable wastes call the Brewer Landfill and Recycling Area at 989-8433.

The City conducts a spring cleanup.

Recycling is on the first trash pickup day of each month.
Recycling Update– Elm Street Drop-Off Center

Effective July 1, 2000, a new 3-year contract will start for the City’s curbside refuse and recyclable collection.

It has been 5-years since the City of Brewer went out to bid for refuse and recyclable collection. The City advertised on May 6, 2000, inviting collection contractors to bid on the contract. Bids were received from two firms and opened on June 2, 2000 and Sawyer Environmental Services was low bidder.

There will be no interruption in service and the collection schedule will remain the same for both refuse and recyclables.

If you have any questions regarding to the collection program and schedule or you have complaints, please call the Public Works Department at 989-7800.
