Thursday, May 26, 2011

Brewer applies for CDBG funds to improve low-income homes
BDN, Tuesday, February 15, 2011

Community Development Housing Grant Program
Application for Single Family Homes

The City of Brewer is preparing to apply for a Community Development housing program. If we are successful up to $300,000 will be available for housing improvements later this year. We are asking residents to complete this pre-application in order to have a better understanding of the types of needs facing residents and the amount of interest in a grant program. If we are awarded a Community Development grant, we will notify those residents who completed a pre-application for housing assistance. The types of improvements completed through this grant program include heating, roofing, siding, windows, doors, or other health and safety or energy efficiency related repairs.

Community Development Grant Program
Application for Rental Properties

The City of Brewer is competing for a Community Development housing grant. If we are successful, $300,000 will be available to make improvements to single and multi-family homes in Brewer. This grant program can address items such as windows, roofing, insulation, siding, heating or other issues related to health and safety or the energy efficiency of the building. In order to qualify at least 51% of the units must be rented to tenants who are income eligible*. There will also be other requirements but we will try to make participation easy. Please let us know if you have an interest in this program. We will plan to contact property owners who complete this pre application form when the grant awards are announced.
