The Assessor's Office is concerned with the following
duties and responsibilities as prescribed by the
State of Maine Statutes.

Assessment Date is April 1 of each year
Tax Year is from July 1 to June 30
Valuation

NOTICE:  HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION.  36 M.R.S.A. § 683.  For property tax years beginning on or after April 1, 2010, the homestead exemption amount is decreased from $13,000 to $10,000.  This decrease is effective as of April 1, 2010. 

This decrease by the State will effect residential property owners in the City of Brewer that are currently receiving the Homestead Exemption.
