Good News! Cianbro Corp. and South Brewer Redevelopment recently announced plans to turn the former Eastern Fire Paper mill into a modular construction facility, creating over 500 well-paying manufacturing jobs.

The redevelopment of this 41-acre site on the Penobscot River has positive implications for the entire region.

The creation of the Brewer Module Facility is testimony to the visionary leadership of Cianbro Corporation, an employee-owned company, and the tenacity of Brewer's economic development team. According to Cianbro President Peter Vigue, it is also a testament to the people of Maine, whose "work ethic, ingenuity, and determination are second to none."

The facility will create large modular steel building frames weighing over 1,000 tons used by industrial plants. These prefabricated, self-standing building structures will be outfitted with piping and electrical wires at the Brewer plant, then shipped by barge to industrial clients and assembled onsite.

The new facility is scheduled to open in the spring of 2008.
